We are excited to invite you to the first event of our Wellness in Colour series, held in partnership with Pier Five powered by MasterCard and East Village Calgary. Led by Maria Rodriguez, our 6-week beginner yoga series aims to introduce individuals from diverse fitness backgrounds to the world of yoga and mindful movement. The program will focus on building a strong foundation and cultivating mindfulness throughout a yoga practice. This series is designed to be inclusive, welcoming, and accessible to participants of all fitness levels while encouraging participants to begin their sought-after journey in wellness.
Schedule of Each Session:
- 15 minutes before class: open for participant mediation, journaling, questions, and community-building.
- 60 minutes for physical practice.
- 15 minutes after class: open for questions and community-building.
Benefits of the Program Include:
- Introduction to Yoga: Participants will learn the basics of yoga postures, including foundational poses, breathing techniques, and how to modify postures for their specific physical needs.
- Physical and Mental Health: The program will emphasize the benefits of yoga for physical fitness, stress reduction, and mental clarity.
- Community Building: We will create a supportive and inclusive space for people of colour to explore yoga together in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
- Access to Community Spaces: We will utilize an outdoor location, allowing participants to connect with nature and explore the concept of yoga in an open-air setting.
- Empowerment: Empower individuals to take control of their well-being and health through yoga and mindful wellness practices.

We want to make it clear that we will not tolerate any form of anti-Blackness, anti-Indigenous attitudes, racism, homophobia, ableism or transphobia within our organization or community.

Cancellation Policy:
There will be no full or partial refunds once the participation in the program is confirmed. Most of our work is done during planning and preparation stages. If a mentee needs to withdraw from the mentoring program early, there will be no fee adjustments. Content Creation Statement
We ask to respect our work and not create content to promote any brands or organizations during our events. Our team is putting a lot of energy and time into creating community spaces with little support and unrelated organizations should not benefit from our hard labour. You are encouraged to share about Colour the Trails work as it shows the welcoming and safe space we are creating and word of mouth helps our community to grow!
