Event Details

Colour the Trails Mountain Biking Mentorship Program is a year round program that aims at supporting Black, Indigenous and Racialized folks to become confident mountain bike riders realizing their full potential. Our goal is simple, yet needed. We advocate for inclusive representation in outdoor spaces, working with brand partners, businesses, and organizations to break barriers and create accessibility.
We are currently running the program for folks in proximity to Vancouver i.e. Tri-Cities/Metro Vancouver/Sea to sky region of BC.
If you would like to support a member of QTBIPOC community in their learning and exploring the sport of mountain biking – we would love to hear from you. We have seen great friendships coming out of the program in the past. That said, some folks realize they are not interested in the sport after some time, or change in life that does not allow them to proceed. So you should be understanding that some connections are not working out. But it is a plus if you act independently and proactively reaching out to other mentors to try to organize meetups without constant guiding from us, as we are often overwhelmed with all the work we are doing for community, and we need community support back.
This application will ask questions to help us learn more about you, your interest in mentorship and mountain biking. We encourage you to reflect on your personal experiences and use that to guide open and honest responses. Your responses will only be share with the team responsible for pairing participants.

Commitment Level:
This program spans from late October 2024 to June 2025. You will need to be able to ride at least 1-2 times a month with your mentee to help them learn about the sport, local trail system, just be there to support with insights, and make this a meaningful program for both you and your mentee!
We do not expect mentors to be coaches at all. We need mentors to be able to help mentees with transportation, introducing trail system, spending some time with a mentee so they do not explore alone, share general knowledge about MTB to the best of your own knowledge. You do not need to be a pro and be able to ride all the gnar, you just need to be able to make yourself available and go with a mentee on easy-going rides. Most of the mentees are beginners and would start from green or easy blue trails. If there are more intermediate mentees that would like to connect with a mentor, we will check with you for the level of comfort.
We will try to offer mentors some gear discounts and whistler bike park meetup days when possible.
This application will close October 1st. We will reach out to everyone mid October with details and confirmations.
If you know someone who would fit well into this program – feel free to share the information
