- Saturday, Aug 2, 2025
- 9am - 1pm
- Cost: $10.50
- Intermediate
Event Details
This event takes place on the unceded and ancestral territory of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples, the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
As we have a limited number of spots, this event is open to Black, Indigenous and Racialized folks only.
Join our journey to the top of St. Mark’s Summit, where we’ll (hopefully) enjoy stunning views of the Howe Sound. This intermediate hike is 10km long with approximately 570m of elevation gain, and takes an average of 3h45min to complete. But we will move at the pace of the group and will probably be close to 5h. All participants should have some experience doing hikes with moderate (200m+) elevation gain.
We did this hike last year at the end of October. We ended up in rain and clouds with no views. Yet the morale of the group was quite high, and we always appreciate the good vibes the community is bringing! It looks like this time we will face quite the opposite – hot dry conditions. But mountain weather is ever changing, so we ask to have all the essentials and prepare for the unexpected.
** Please note that though there will one or two CTT team members present, there will be no guides at this event. All participants are hiking at their own risk and discretion. **
What to bring:
- Hiking boots (terrain will likely be muddy, with roots and rocks)
- Hiking poles (optional)
- Sweat-wicking athletic clothing you can move in
- Layers— your temperature may fluctuate throughout the hike, so having a fleece or warm long sleeve over your base layer, then a jacket on top is a good idea
- Rain jacket
- Toque
- Gloves
- Snacks and/or lunch
- Water
- Small backpack or bag to carry your water, food, and layers while hiking
Transportation
All participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event. Prior to the event, we will send out a carpooling sheet for participants to arrange carpooling.
