Event Details
We are happy to have support from Whistler Blackcomb to run skiing and snowboarding programming for 2026 season!
The events are for Black, Indigenous and Racialized folks only and need to be 18+ years old.
On March 21 we will host lessons for new(ish) riders.
Level 1 – never tried skiing/snowboarding, and need to learn very basics
Level 2 – tried a few times, but still at the very beginning of learning
Skiers – Can do snowplow turns in control on gentle slopes. Prefer to ski at a slow pace. Green runs remain a bit of a challenge.
Snowboarders – Able to slide and stop, both front-side, backside and attempting to link turns on gentle terrain.
Price: $105 which includes a lift ticket, one full-day lesson, and rentals (if needed). The price does not change if you have your own gear or lift ticket, as we have it set as a package.
Regular price at Whistler is $439+tax for just the lesson, plus lift ticket , and rentals, which means you’re getting $500-804 of value for $105 plus community support. A great deal, if you ask us!
We create these events in order to support folks in their learning in an inclusive environment, and most-importantly we hope folks connect for ongoing community building.
Only those who submit an application form will be considered for registration if selected.
Selected participants will be notified and invited to register for their lessons on a rolling basis. Please watch your inbox and spam box in the next few days. We will share registration details once confirmed with Whistler Blackcomb.
We usually receive an overwhelming number of applications (2-3 times the spots) and absolutely not possible to accommodate everyone. We try our best to communicate promptly, but the logistics of the events is a bit complicated and we not always able to send updates fast.
** Important **
If you haven’t communicated with us by email before, our emails might end up in your spam box. Please add our email addresses info@colourthetrails.com to your contacts so you don’t miss your spot.
If you end up registering for a lesson, but cancel on us last moment, you will not be guaranteed a spot during the rest of the season. The logistics of the events are quite complicated so last minute cancellations put a huge strain on us.
Carpooling + Transportation
Each participant is responsible for getting to Whistler on their own. Before each lesson, we will send out shuttle info and a spreadsheet so participants can self-organize carpooling.
Lesson Cohorts and Community
In keeping with the themes of community and growth, we hope that participants create connections to ski/ride with community members. Please try to exchange contacts with people in your lesson.
We ask you not to treat our intentional work as a discounted ski/snowboard service. Please only apply if you believe in our mission and are looking to be part of community, and create connections with Black, Indigenous, and racialized folks. We are doing our best to support those who truly believe in change in the winter sports industry and beyond.
Please do not send us messages while you await registration details. We will be sharing regular updates as information and confirmations from Whistler Blackcomb team are shared with us.
