Come and celebrate Black Joy in the outdoors with us this Black Futures Month! We welcome all Black, mixed Black, and Afro-Indigenous folks to connect with the community amidst the awe-inspiring beauty of Whistler Blackcomb.
Last year we hosted a meetup with 50 folks and the vibes were high! Here’s a small highlight. You can also checkout our 2023 recap.
Come for the slopes, stay for the community, and leave with new friends.
For Black folks who:
- want to try skiing/snowboarding for the first time OR
- are still beginners who want to take lessons OR
- are intermediates/advanced riders who want to meet up with other Black folks for some laps (no lesson included)
If you’re a beginner, you’ll learn to ski and snowboard during a group lesson. If you’re comfortable riding Whistler blue runs (which are tougher than smaller resort blue runs) and up, we’ll be enjoying each other’s company as we hit the slopes as a crew (no lesson).
We are hoping to book a private bus from Vancouver to Whistler and back so the good vibes would last from dawn till dusk.
The event is an application-based format due to limited spots, the need to figure out levels of riding to organize groups, and a desire to support those who are willing to invest in progressing their own skills and in creating a community within our group.
Only those who submit an application form will be considered for registration for this event. Deadline for submitting an application is end of day January 27th. Selected participants will be notified by end of day January 29th and invited to register for a lesson or a meetup. Deadline to confirm your participation is Feb 1 end of day.
