Event Details

The event is for BIPOC living in Vancouver, BC, Canada area. While we love our allies, this event is created to give a chance to BIPOC members to try new sports. We do not need volunteers this time around. But please keep following us for future updates.

Trail running is a fantastic way to move fast in the mountains. While increasing your overall fitness, it also helps develop your trip planning and navigation skills, and will help you become more confident in the backcountry.

In this intro clinic, we’re going to do a 5k run in the Capilano Canyon area in North Vancouver, on groomed and non-technical trails. Depending on the group’s interest/experience, we may extend the run a bit or make a couple of different pace groups.

Although no previous running experience is required, we’ll be moving at least a bit faster than regular walking/hiking pace so come prepared to sweat! Trail running shoes are of course recommended if you have them, however low-cut (not the ones that go above your ankle) hiking shoes or even regular runners would be fine for this introductory run. We’ll be covering the basics of gear at the event.

Please come dressed appropriately for the weather conditions on the day, and avoid anything cotton (as it won’t allow you to breathe).

Note: this event will be in North Vancouver, BC and will take place rain or shine. Due to Covid restrictions, we cannot organize carpooling. You will have to figure out your own drive or commute.

This event will take place on the unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
