Event Details

This charter is specifically for the Colour the Trails community, so it will be a diverse-inclusive group.  We ask our allies to allow our BIPOC community to register for this event as spots are extremely limited. Thank you!

Our annual sailing trip is back for the fourth time! This is a very special event due to extremely limited spots (only 5 available) and we will reach out to those who have been selected to attend after May 18, 2025. In the previous years we received 25-30 applications for 5 spots and unfortunately we can not accept everyone.

  • Please be sure to answer all the questions below after reading through the event details!

The group will be doing the Princess Louisa & Jervis Inlets charter that leaves from Madeira Park/Pender Harbor on the Sunshine Coast in BC. This is a stunning area with hundreds of waterfalls and breathtaking bioluminescence at night.

The cost of the trip is $850/person  + your own transportation costs to and from the docked boat at Madeira Park on the Sunshine Coast. Unfortunately there are no sponsorships/scholarships for this trip so we are unable to bring the price any lower than it is.

You do not need to be from BC to apply. As long as you are willing to travel to the departure point, fill free to submit application.

The boat will leave on Friday May 30 at 12 PM and return back to Madeira Park on Tuesday June 3 at 12 PMhttps://goo.gl/maps/i2qqCjHV9pNCL5JR8

  • Please note: as mentioned, the cost of getting to the meeting point will be an additional expense for this trip (ie. ferry to Sunshine Coast, pitch in gas to drive up to Madeira Park), but there might be opportunity for carpooling as per group future communications.

While it is hard to describe in a few words – this sailing trip is an absolutely unforgettable experience:

During the 5 days, you will experience what it’s like to recreationally cruise on the coast, sailing and motoring for three to four hours a day from place to place, anchoring in a bay or cove, exploring the beaches, islands and woodlands, hiking and kayaking, swimming, sun bathing, eating fresh seafood!

You will be eating, sleeping and sightseeing on board the Porpoise which is listed with Transport Canada as a Recreational Boating School, meaning that you will have the opportunity to learn about safety on the water and some basics of how to operate a boat.

Food: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are included. You will be served basic and nutritious meats, vegetables and grains etc. using the on-board BBQ as well as the full-on galley. You are welcome to bring your own beer or wine and your own stash of goodies along with you. If there are special foods you need because of dietary concerns, you will need to bring items/food to supplement or replace the group meals. The Captain will do his best to make some accommodations within reason, if we know in advance.

Sleeping arrangements: Be ready for very simple boat living with basic comfort. All attendees will be sleeping in close quarters (same room/area) and be sharing a bed with someone else – each using their own sleeping bag. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag for the bed. Side note: you will be able to take hot showers on board once in a while (when the boat’s engine is running).

**As this event has extremely limited spots and requires a lot of logistics, there will be no refunds for cancellations. Please please please make sure you can commit to this trip.**
