Our winter event of the year – Colour The Slopes (CTS) – is coming to Whistler, BC, Canada on MARCH 13-16, 2025

CTS 3.0 is a 4 day Summit for Black, Indigenous and Racialized community to come together, enjoy winter activities, connect, learn, dance, and be in the community.

Whistler is located on the unceded territories of the Lil’wat (Lil̓wat7úl) Nation and Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh) Nation.

If you want to try skiing/snowboarding for the first time – you will be in a good company of peers. If you are an expert rider, we will show you hidden goods of Whistler Blackcomb.

XC Curious Package

Join a lesson of cross-country skiing! Whistler has beautiful trails for this sport.

We recommend this package if you are a new/beginner skier/snowboarder as the second day of on the slopes will not have a lesson and you might be tired after the 1st day. This package will include rentals and a lesson.

Just The Slopes Package

20 spots available

For those of you who can’t get enough of skiing or snowboarding on the resort and would like to explore on your own, this package will include a lift ticket so you can hit the slopes for one more day! No lesson/guiding, but you can create a group with new friends. No gear rentals included.

If you already have an Epic (Whistler) pass, then you can register for “Not Too Chill” package and join other folks who will choose to hit the slopes.

Slackcountry Package

Only 6 spots available!

This package will include a day of guided ski touring off the resort boundaries (slackcountry). Requirements: Minimum 5 days of ski touring experience, AST-1 course completed and full avalanche safety gear kit.

Gear rentals are not included in this price, but can be rented in town at additional cost, if needed. We might be able to provide avalanche safety kit by request (shovel, probe, beacon).

Please ensure you are able to do two days of challenging skiing in a row and have enough energy for a day of touring.

Full Throttle Package

This package will include a guided snowmobile tour! No experience is required. Explore beautiful terrain from a “comfort” of a sled!

Not Too Chill Package

Choose your own adventure.

You decide and book on your own. We can offer discounts for ziplining and Scandinave Spa. You can also find anything else that might fit your vibe for the day. Whistler offers a lot of things to do and explore.

Is there an age limit for this event?

This event is for individuals who are 18 years of age or older at this time.

We are looking into more family events in the future as we know there is a demand for those activities. But we are limited by insurance, training, and certifications requirements.

What's the schedule for the event?

More details will be confirmed as we near the event but below is a high-level schedule of how each day will go.

March 13 evening:

Coming together, introductions, mingling;

Short doc films screenings;

Dinner (vegan/veg options available).

March 14:

Day of skiing or snowboarding with instructors/guides for everyone;

Speaker Presentations and Après Snacks;

Evening on your own schedule with new and old friends.

March 15:

Activity of your choice as per chosen package;

Gala Dinner (vegan/veg options available), 2 drink tickets, dancing, prizes.

March 16:

Group breakfast;

Closing speeches;

Exchanging contacts with new friends;

Farewells! (till next event?)

 

What’s NOT included in a package:

– Transportation to and from Whistler;

– Booking and cost of accommodation in Whistler. Group rate pricing is available on the event page.

– Meals not mentioned in the above list of included options.

When does registration close?

We have limited spots per package and in total.

Registration will close on Feb 15, 2025 or when sold out.

What level of skiing/snowboarding required

We have no limits for skill level!

If you never tried skiing or snowboarding – you will get a full day lesson at a learning area. Instructors will take you  to the top of the mountain for lunch, so you can see what is available to you in future.

For those who have some experience – we will host group lessons according to your level and sport.

If you have a pass for Whistler Blackcomb (ex, Epic pass) and willing to use it instead of us providing one to you, we can offer you a 51 CAD discount.

What is the refund policy?

If you’re no longer able to attend, you can cancel your ticket before January 15, 2025 to receive a full refund.

If you cancel between January 15 and January 31, you will receive a refund minus 200 CAD.

For cancellations between January 31st and February 15 we will provide 50% refund.

After February 15 no refunds will be available as there are significant logistics and deposits for this event, and we might not be able to fill in cancelled spots.

Scholarships

Thanks to Vail Epic Promise program we were able to provide scholarships for those who have constraints.

Scholarships will be granted for three packages:

  • XC Curious
  • More Stoke
  • Not Too Chill

Applications were due on January 10th and now closed

Early bird registration perks

Those who purchase a package by January 15th will be included in an early-bird prize draw. We are confirming the details. We estimate an approximate value of 500-1000 CAD.

How do I get to Whistler?

In brief:

You can fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and take a direct shuttle bus or rent a car.

Whistler charter busses are running on a regular schedule from the airport and downtown Vancouver. They are comfy and reasonably priced.

If you are coming to Whistler for the summit only and will be staying at the Delta Hotel, then you will be in the very center of the Whistler Village and do not need a car. Save yourself the stress of driving and parking fees.

We have fixed group rates for Delta Hotels Whistler Village Suites.

We do not have a discount for the stay outside of the summit days.

Will there be carpool and shared accommodation options?

Yes! In the past years a lot of folks connected for carpool and shared accommodation. This definitely helps to cut costs, not be on your own, make new friends.

You can also add yourself if you are flying from afar and want to see if there is someone else coming from your area or want to meet at the airport to take a bus together.

Communication prior and during event

For the previous two events, we used Slack to communicate with the whole group.

Colour the Trails team shared updates and reminders. Participants were offering/joining self-organized meetups and activities.
