Colour the Slopes Summit is back! December 7-10, 2023

Colour the Trails, Tourism Revelstoke and Revelstoke Mountain Resort are excited to bring you the second Colour the Slopes Summit taking place in Revelstoke, BC, Canada! With the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.

In December 2022 we hosted our first Summit to bring together Black, Indigenous, Racialized folks and allies to participate in winter activities, connect, learn, dance, and be in the community.

2022 Summit recap

We received very positive feedback and decided to try our best to make it an even bigger and better event. We hope you will be able to attend!

Dec 7-10 this year, participants will gather to develop or hone their outdoor skills, try new activities, and celebrate the BIPOC community with speakers and live music!

Registration for the full summit was open till November 1st and now closed.

This event will take place in Revelstoke which is located on the traditional territories of the Sinixt, Secwepemc, Syilx, and Ktunaxa Peoples.

 

Snowshoeing Package

Looking for a relaxing walk through the snowy trails of Revelstoke Mountain Resort? We recommend this package if you are the first time skier/snowboarder as second day of skiing would not have a lesson and you might be tired after 1st day. This package will include rentals and a guided snowshoe tour. No snowshoeing experience required.

This package includes every item listed in the “what’s included with every package” section.

More Stoke Package

For those of you who can’t get enough of skiing or snowboarding on the resort and would like to explore on your own, this package will include a lift ticket and rentals so you can hit the slopes for one more day! No lesson/guiding included, but you can create a group with new and old friends.

This package includes every item listed out in the “what’s included with every package” section.

Early bird price 735 CAD, regular price 832 CAD.

Prices include 5% GST

 

Backcountry Touring Package

Looking to explore some backcountry terrain while in Revelstoke? This package will include a day of guided ski touring. Rentals are not included in this price.
Requirements: Minimum 3 days of ski touring experience, AST-1 course completed and full avalanche safety gear kit (can be rented in town at additional cost, if needed)

Snowmobiling Package

Are you seeking a boost of adrenaline or wanting to try something new? This package will include a guided snowmobile tour! No snowmobiling experience required.

What's the schedule for the event?

More details will be confirmed as we near the event but below is a high-level schedule of how each day will go.

December 7 evening:

Coming together, introductions, mingling;

Short doc films screenings;

Dinner (vegan/veg options available).

December 8:

Day of skiing or snowboarding for everyone with ticket/rentals/lesson;

Speaker Presentations and Après Snacks at the resort lodge;

Evening on your own schedule with new and old friends.

December 9:

Activity of your choice as per chosen package;

Gala Dinner (vegan/veg options available), 2 drink tickets, dancing.

December 10:

Group breakfast;

Closing speeches;

Exchanging contacts with new friends;

Farewells! (till next year?)

Who is invited to register? Can allies attend?

All Black, Indigenous, and racialized people are invited to register and attend!

We are inviting allies that are connected to community and attendees to register.

Must be 18 years of age or older to register and attend.

Is there an age limit for this event?

This event is for individuals who are 18 years of age or older at this time.

We are looking into more family events in the future as we know there is a demand for those activities. But we are limited by insurance, training, and certifications requirements.

How do I get to Revelstoke?

There will be free shuttle options to Revelstoke for Colour the Slopes participants. It will depart from the Calgary and Kelowna Airports. Calgary shuttle will make a stop in the city to pickup those willing to catch a ride.

Calgary:

December 7th two shuttles leaving airport at 11:30am and 2:00pm local time (MST). Picking up folks in the city on the way. Meeting spot is to be confirmed.

December 10th leaving at 10.45am local time (PDT) and airport arrival between 5-6pm local time (MST). Book a flight home on a safer side after 7pm (MST)

Kelowna:

December 7th leaving airport at 2:00pm local time (PDT)

December 10th leaving at 10.45am local time (PDT) and airport arrival around 2pm local time (PDT) – book a flight home on a safe side after 4pm

Where can I stay during this event?

We have fixed group rates for two hotels, which guarantees event-specific pricing. But if booking far in advance (before Aug 31st), hotel early-bird pricing might actually be better than our fixed rate. So please review the available current pricing to see which rate is better.

From what we heard, attendees from the previous Summit highly recommend staying at Sutton Place which is located on the resort, as commute or shuttles from Sandman to the resort might take time and energy from you.

Yes! Last year a lot of folks connected for carpool and shared accommodation. This definitely helps to cut costs and not be on your own.

What is the refund policy?

If you’re no longer able to attend, you can cancel your ticket before October 31, 2023 at 11:59PM PT to receive a full refund.

After November 1st, no refunds will be available as there are significant logistics for this event that require additional time and planning.
